Question

Intel HD Graphics 620 suitable to run CS6 or go with a dedicated graphics card?

I am needing to upgrade my laptop and have been stuck on whether you have to have a dedicated graphics card for CS6- mainly Illustrator and Photoshop. I currently have an Intel Core i7 with Nividia Graphics card, but my system is 5-6yrs old  and is incredibly slow.

Would the below system be suitable to run CS6 on Windows 10 or do I rather look at a system with a dedicated graphics card and no SSD?

Intel 7th Gen Kabylake Core i5-7200U up to 3.10GHz CPU

20GB DDR4 RAM

128GB Ultra-Fast SSD + 500GB Hard Drive

15.6" HD 1366x768 Anti-Glare Screen

Intel HD Graphics 620

I have asked a number of IT guys but think I need to find this out direct from you guys.

Thank you.

CS6 is not supported on Windows 10. It's possible that you may get lucky and have it run for you but you should be aware that I've seen several posts in this forum lately about older versions of Illustrator suddenly having problems running after Windows 10 has updated itself. Using older software on the latest OS is always a risk. There is no predicting what will happen.

Not really answering the question, I know,

but if it was my call, I'd try and pimp up the current laptop first.

Treat it  to an SSD drive, maybe  125-250 GB

Do a clean reinstall of windows (7?)

Increase the RAM

If you  buy a new laptop with old Hard Drive, you can always swap it out  for an SSD, and put the HD one in a portable USB caddy for storage
