Kerning Keyboard Command

New Here ,
Dec 04, 2020 Dec 04, 2020

The Keyboard Shortcut "Option + Left or Right Arrow Key" used to adjust kerning between individual letters. This doesn't work anymore.

Adidtionally, when I check the Keyboard Shortcuts Panel, Menu Commands, Kerning:

Kern Looser/ Tighter is noted as "Shift + Command + Bracket Left /Right" But that keyboard command doesn't change the kerning either.

I've tried on both Illustrator 2019 and Current CC Version 2021. Mac OSX 10.14.3

I don't want to use the drop down menu to kern between each letter, please help!

Thanks! @michelew83603738

You are correct, the incremental change was set to zero.

Fixed it here: Preferences > Type > Tracking: changed to 5/1000em.

Not really sure how all of a sudden it was set to zero..... nonetheless, on to the next!

I just tried both in 25.0.1 and it is working for me. If I put the ibeam between two letters and use option+arrow the Kerning changes. If I select multiple letters with the ibeam and hit option+arrow it changes the Tracking — which stands to reason.

Unlikely, but could the incremental change amount somehow have gotten changed in your Preferences?
