Making dot patterns

I need to make regularly spaced dots in various patterns. Is this something that could be scripted -- an more importantly, since I don't know how to script, is there an existing script that could be used?

For example:

One pattern would be a line of dots that spans 7.71 inches wide from the left edge of the left dot to the right edge of the right dot. The dots need to be 0.8 mm diameter with fixed center to center spacing of 3 mm.

Another pattern needs to be a line of dots that spans 7.71 inches wide from the left edge of the left dot to the right ege of the right dot. These dots need to increase in diameter from a small dots to a large dot, with fixed center to center spacing of 3 mm.

A third pattern again needs to span 7.71 inches, with dots that increase in diameter from a size of .8 mm to 2.4 mm, but with a 2.5 mm center to center spacing (rather than the 3 mm spacing).

John,
Thanks for your suggestions. This is working fine for creating the dots.

Once you have the pattern set up how you like, Object > Expand will release the objects from the blend and create individual dots.

You can do this easily without scripting.

First Pattern :
Create your two dots and position them on your left and right edge. Using the blend tool(W), create a blend between the two dots. Once the blend is created go to Object > Blend > Blend Options -- and change the spacing dropdown to specified distance and enter 3mm (spacing is determined by center of object blended)

Second Pattern:
Same as above - just create the second dot at the size you want the progression to end at.
