Merging problem

Good day, I do have a problem which I want to resolve after I finish the outline of the picture and select all and expand appearance then merge some of my outlines seems to disappear. what do I do?

Strokes are paths. Fills are the colors that fill a shape. When you expand a stroke it becomes a fill, and then you can merge it with other objects. If you haven't expanded all of your strokes, then when you use Merge, those strokes will be removed. What tool did you use to outline the pic? Did you draw it by hand with the Paintbrush Tool?

 

It might help if you show before and after screenshots.

Were all the strokes expanded? Merge removes strokes.

Not familiar to what is a stroke...but I use the mouse to outline the pic
