No color options for stroke or fill in Illustrator.

Whenever I create an object, using the line segment tool or whatever, and go to change the color, the options for color aren't there anymore. I used to have 3 rows of color options that never changed since I installed the app, but now they're gone. Is there any way I can get them back.

Thanks

Your comment helped me figure it out. Something about the file I was using was breaking it. Thanks

You're welcome.

Swatches in Illustrator are document based. When opening a JPEG, PNG or other raster image, there won't be swatches. Also in other documents they could have been deleted.
