No equal space?

Hi, my illustrator wont do that equal spacing thing anymore when you move an object!

heres me trying to place a square, no guide comes up!

Maybe that would be too obvious, but you have Smart Guides turned on in the View menu, haven't you?

Another reason could be that Snap to Grid is turned on in the View menu. That would disable Smart Guides although they are turned on.

In Preferences > Smart guides, is Spacing Guides checked?

Can you induce spacing to appear in a new document with three simple objects, for instance?
