Object's colors change depending on background color

I found a nice vector image on shutterstock that I plan on using for a project of mine. But the colors seem to change when I alter the background color. Any insight at all would be a big help. Thanks in advance!

This uses some heavy transparency blending.

So of course the result depends on both foreground and background.

And the result depends on color mode. Did you perhaps change from RGB to CMYK?

I have both of the examples in CMYK as it was going to go on a tshirt. I just didn't want the colors to be dependent on the background color because eventually the graphic is going to have to be separated when put on a shirt. But it sounds like the "transparency blending" is the culprit here. Any fix for that? Or is it just the nature of the graphic?

It's the nature of the graphic.

Talk to the cmpany that will print the graphic on shirts.
