Dear all,

I apologize if this question seems redundant to you but trust me or not I have tried all the solution observed on this forum before posting.

The actual issue is that I have to provide graphic stuffs from Adobe Illustrator to someone printing the job and using CorelDraw X5 and it looks to be very difficult to find a common file without any issue in it.

Let me summarize here all the tests already performed :

Native Illustrator file : CC, CS5 and CS4 format tested w/wo the preview pdf file integrated. Problems seen are the color gradient lost or the cut contour defined in Illustrator is seen, in CorelDraw X5, as a sum of small paths between two anchor points and some text do not have the same slope (i.e. rather that getting an horizontal  text, it has an angle of 60deg)

EPS output file : I always use the native format to save my job and then do a Save As or Save a copy in the EPS format. Here again a lot of issue and I also tried the CC, CS5 and CS4 EPS format but without any probant results and furthermore, the file size increases significantly (from 3Mb in the native format to 14Mb in the EPS even with all the check boxes unchecked and Language 2 selected). Here also no gradient color and the cut contour is doubled in CorelDraw.

PDF output fies : PDF files seems to be the best option so far but I have to individualize the files. For example, I have 10 items (cut contour + template) and I can't export the entire project because CorelDraw indicates an "Internal Filter error". I have to split it to 10 individual files to be able to open them and my colleague has to reassemble them in CorelDraw. Except that the main point here is also the color gradient which is lost in CorelDraw but if you open the same file in a PDF viewer, the color gradient is visible.

All this to say that I haven't found yet the proper solution to get this done and here are all the links I already went through :

I guess that many of you are dealing with such compatibility questions so it would be great to get feedback from experimented people.

Thanks for your help,

Regards,

VM

If you want to keep up this cooperation then either you should switch to CorelDraw for the creation of artwork or your colleague should switch to Acrobat Pro for printing.

That seems a bit easy as a solution because for another topic, I also might be in touch with other people using other software. We can't get all the software on the market otherwise, why Adobe Illustrator propose several output file formats?

The receiving software needs to treat those output files in the way they were meant for.

PDF is not meant for editing, but CorelDraw seems to actually try to interpret and process the objects inside the file. And this is why you get that result.

But maybe the person operating CorelDraw might want to investigate how to better open the file so that it looks like it should look? If the PDF looks OK in Acrobat, then obviously CorelDraw does something wrong. Acrobat is the reference for the display and output of PDF.

As for EPS: That file format has been updated for the last time in 1999. It doesn't support today's software's functions.
