Pantone Tints on APET

Hi there,

I am wondering, if I use a pantone tint of 427C on APET material, does the tint make the ink look transparent? Meaning if I use 427 at 80% tint, will it be using less ink creating a transparency issue? If so would putting a white background behind the object correct this?

Thanks.

Pantone ink won't even be fully opaque when used at 100%.

So 80% for sure will make it transparent.

If it's even possible to underlay white, depends on the printing method. So you definitely want to discuss the issue with your print service provider.

Thanks for the response.

So when printing Pantones on APET; even if its 100% tint, you need to have a white underlay so that its opaque?

That depends on what you expect. All offset colors are at least silghtly transparent. If it's a light color and a dark material you will notice it more than if it's a dark color on a bright material.

So please talk to the service provider.
