Question

Pen tool only moving in 15 degree increments

Hello all,

Quick question that my searching has not found an answer for:

With the pen tool engaged, when I click for a new anchor point and then go to click another anchor point, to create a straight line, Illustrator is only allowing me to click in 15 degree increments from the original anchor point. It's almost as if it's snapping at 15 degree increments. Another way to put this, it's similar to when you click an anchor point and then hold down the shift key and your tool moves in 45 degree increments. Only, I'm not holding down the shift key and it's in 15 degree increments.

Another frustration to this is that, when I click for an anchor point, it's not putting the anchor point where the tip of the pen tool is, it's putting the anchor point like an inch away. I assume these two issues are related.

Can anyone help? I've tried going through preferences and, unless I'm not seeing something, there doesn't seem to be a setting to hit. And, like I said, a Google and Adobe forums search proved fruitless.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Problem solved. I accidentally had Snap To Grid on. I feel stupid.
