Pencil tool shows as X want it to show as pencil

Pencil tool shows as X . If i use caps lock I get bounding box How do I get pencil tool to just draw with pencil ?

I have been using illus. for over 15 yrs and nevr had this with older illus. program .

Uncheck Precise Cursors and Unlock the Caps lock key and you get the pencil.

Thanks , but precise cursors was checked. stillhave problem . when cap locks on I get pencil with * .

The * just marks that you create a new path. So what exactly do you want the pencil to look like?

Or in Preferences > Use Precise Cursors checked?
