Problems using the pen tool and locked items

Hi there, just wanted to see if anyone else is having this issue since the latest update.

I'm taking an image into Illustrator to redraw. Locking the image on the art board and then, not always, but on occassion, when i draw over the locked item the line i've drawn will not be visible, and i need to bring the line to the front to make it visable, even though it was drawn long after locking the item.

Not a big issue and probably just a bug with the new update, but curious if anyone else has had this.

Hello Michael,

I guess you sorted out your problem  but just in case for people who had this issue.

(Shift+D) to switch between  Drawing Mode. On the toolbar. Just had this issue too 😉

Cheers

I haven't experienced that at all. So you are saying that the path is invisible or that the path is going behind the image? You might try creating a new layer to draw on - or are you doing that as well?

The path is being drawn behind the locked item. I know, it makes no sense. Both items are on the same layer also.

It's happened a couple of time sove rthe last couple of days. And it's quite random how it the issue arises.

I can be drawing away with everything fine. i'll click off the pen tool and perform some other function not realting to the sketch, and when i return to the pen tool and continue drawing, the path is behind the locked item and i have to 'bring to front' to see it. it's nuts.

Always create another layer to trace on and make sure it is above the image layer. Then lock the image layer.
