Re: Illustrator 2018 won't open file

This did not work in normal mode or safe mode.  Again, I am on a macbook pro (Mid 2014) running macOs Sierra 10.12.6.  I can no longer open any files or create any new ones.  Whenever I try either, I get the spinning color ball until I have to Force Quit.  I have downloaded the new Illustrator CC 2018 and that has not solved the problem either.  I have deleted preferences, restarted and insane amount of times, run first aid and unchecked GPU performance.  I have even tried downloading a previous version and that did not work either.  Apple says this is an Adobe problem and as evidenced by this thread it is happening to a lot of people.  I need some serious help as I cannot open any of my Illustrator files.

I could not open older files after my most recent update to Illustrator CC 2018. In Illustrator > Preferences > General, I unchecked "Show the Start Workspace..." and that worked for me.

    Hi iamazure,

In addition to Mike's suggestion, I would request you to check how the application works in Root account?

How to enable the root user on your Mac - Apple Support

Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app doesn't open or shows a spinning progress wheel

The OOBE reset is the most important part of that link. Make sure you quit the cold and adobe before doing otherwise you will not reset OOBE properly.
