Since I updated Illustrator a month ago, every time I save a file, the program saves a duplicate copy with a 01 added at the end. It appears that the latest version is the one with the 01. I would just prefer to have this turned off, but I can't seem to find out how. A co-worker uses the same version of Illustrator and under "File and Handling" he has the same boxes checked, but his does not save the duplicate version.
Below is the message I get,
Replace File: Some of the Specified files already exist in the target location. The files marked below will be replaced: "File Name"

Exactly where do you save your files with which options?
Also: we just had this kind of issue a few days ago. Can you please just go through the posts? Maybe it helps.

I was saving in the same folder as the original file. The only option for saving is the "save as type" which is saved as an .eps file.
Not sure how to find the post that you were referring to from a few days ago.

Hi @seank47951705,
Thanks for jumping in. Totally understand how confusing that auto-renaming can be, especially when you're expecting a simple overwrite.
Just to help us narrow it down, could you let us know your Illustrator version and OS? Does this happen consistently with all files or just specific ones? If possible, a short screen recording of your save workflow might also help us see exactly what's happening on your end.
Looking forward to your update so we can investigate further.
Abhishek
