Question

Ricoh Driver 7200 & Sp C840dn Illustrator

I am a teacher for an 8th Digital Graphics class. We purchased a new Ricoh Sp C840dn printer, and it prints Photoshop files but I cannot print from Illustrator or InDesign and that is with the 840dn PS driver and PCL 6.  What we are baffled by is the old driver for the 7200 works. Emailed Ricoh, but thought somebody might here might know.

This is over a school network and the Printer is in the computer lab.

Thanks JP

    • The SP C840DN/SP C842DN come with standard PostScript3 Emulation. This option is available for customers who require True Adobe® workflows like Photoshop®, Illustrator® and PDF/X as well as additional font support. When enabled on the MFP, the standard PostScript3 Emulation will be disabled.

Do you if it is enabled?

I saw this also when I googled. So if I understand what MFP does it is some sort of protection over the network? So if it is enabled we need to turn it off to the printer.  I am confused how the old driver works but the new one does not. The old one uses PS6 also.

Discussion successfully moved from Adobe Creative Cloud to Illustrator

I was never able to print to our Ricoh printers from Illustrator. And I never tried printing from Indesign directly.

The recommended path for Indesign is to create a PDF file and to print that. For illustrator you may use the same or open the Illustrator file with Acrobat (because of the embedded PDF file) and print from there.
