Save/Print Illustrator file as multi-page A4 PDF & retain the layers

I have a single large artboard that I want to save/print as a PDF file which has BOTH

a) the 'Tile Full Pages' into A4 print option

AND

b) the 'save as pdf' option of "create acrobat layers from top-level layers"

I seem to only be able to have one or the other feature.

Either I use the print to PDF option and can get my multi-page A4 PDF...

OR I use the save as option and can choose to retain the layers to turn on/off in the PDF file.

I would like it to result in a PDF which has multi-page AND still has the layers.

Is this possible and can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi there,

As Monika suggested, the only way here is creating Artboard of A4 size. For more information on this please refer this help article:

Create artboards to define the tiling.
