Question

Tapered Patterns/Shape

Hi,

I am trying to find a technique to do with drawing patterns or objects within Illustrator where an object I am drawing will taper from large at one end and tiny at the other but scaling the object proportionately along the distance of the shape. Below is the link to what I am trying to achieve"Done by someone else I do not know". It is similar to the Variable width tool, however if you were to use the width tool it would distort and stretch or compressor the object.

Dropbox - Adobe

Hope this makes sense.

Damien

tLooks like distorted with an Envelope:

Object > Envelope Distort > Mesh or one of the other options.

Edit: the scaling may have been done before the Envelope distort by using the Blend tool.

Ok, I believe I have just found a very easy and quick way of doing it. I used the effect transform to duplicate the same pattern but free transformed the pattern to  a slight angle before using the transform effect, works like a charm.
