Text is not smooth for some reason

Hello there. I'm designing a banner ad in photoshop that needs me to create the text in illustrator and place as a smart object. For whatever reason, my text looks awful. I've tried switching fonts and it still looks horrible. There must be some setting that is wrong. This has never happened before.

This is a pdf I made. I don't know if you can see, but the edges are blurry.

Even when I put it in psd as a smart object and make a jpg it still looks wrong. I know it will not look wonderful, but something is going on.

Any tips for me?

    Thx Monika..

I'm on CC 19.2.1. I last restarted on Friday when these issues were happening. It didn't change anything.

No effects applied to the text or the layer.

No difference when I preview on CPU.

I work in illustrator often and haven't ever noticed something like this before.

I found the problem. In Illustrator I was working in 72dpi.

Try creating outlines for the text, then copy and paste into Photoshop as a shape layer. Save as PDF and see if that helps.

Type your text in Photoshop. Better control of anti-aliasing.

I know, but in this case, I can't. Is there a reason why it might not be working?

The statement that you "can't" make the text in Photoshop suggests you're doing something very special in illustrator. Please tell us what so we can understand what weirdness might be in the text, and/or suggest how you CAN do this in Photoshop.
