Hi,

How do I convert text to vector in the Save Adobe PDF dialog so that I do not have to manually go to Type > Create Outlines every time?

Thank you.

by saving/exporting as PDF. as it says, 'All fonts with appropriate embedding bits will be embedded.'

It is possible to do this playing with the default presets settings, see picture below. Give it a try and see if it works for you

that's with acrobat 4 compatibility set though, which flattens transparency and probably removes other features that later PDF versions have. probably not the best option for general use.

Embed the fonts in the PDF as everyone has said.

But if you really want to outline fonts automatically, apply the Effect > Path > Outline object to all your text object. When editing in Illustrator, text will be live, but in the PDF it will be outlined.

I do think there are ways to trick InDesign's PDF export to outlining text by applying transparency, but Save As in Illustrator is a much different routine, and I've never had any real cause to chase after a method for this.

Is Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Shift+O before saving too much trouble?

it's not something i think you can do in the PDF options there. do you really need to?

    Well.

When you submit pdf to be printed as an ad in newspaper by converting text to lines you get rid of the hassle of sending fonts, etc.

you don't need to send fonts for the most part. they get embedded in the PDF.
