Question

The file is damaged and could not be repaired HELP

Hi guys, i have been working in adobe illustrator cc 2017 on this project for couple of days.I saved it and turned off the computer.After 2 hours when i came back i keep getting this error "The file is damaged and could not be repaired" when i try to open it..Please help if u can any solution please post it.All my other illustrator files work perfectly normal.

Where did you save your file?

Is there a backup?

Previous versions?

Do you use something like Time Machine?

(if not, then why not?)

Saved it on desktop, as i usually do, i don't think there is a backup.Im on windows and i never had an issue like this one, just need to fix this file.

Things might always go wrong. So make backups of all your files (or at least the important ones) just in case.

Have you already restarted the computer?

Are there any fonts int the file?

Placed files?

You might try and create a new Illustrator file and then place this file. It might actually be corrupt beyond repair. Maybe someone can still open it, but some hacking required.

If placing the file works, then be prepared for some loss. Layers will be gone, "live" objects, brushes and effects will be gone.
