Turn on ToolTips

I have Adobe Illustrator CC 22.1, working on a Mac. I am making a custom color swatch. Seeing the text will be easier than guessing which shade of brown I will be selecting.

I am trying to turn on what I think is called "tooltips" so I can mouse over/hover over the color before I select it so I can see my custom name for the color. I see the check box under Preferences and checking unchecking does not create the text. Actually, it appears to do nothing.

    Hi,

    Try a Preferences Reset:

Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (macOS) as you start Illustrator. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Illustrator

When did you last restart the computer?

It had been a few days. The reset for Ai worked, but maybe this would have as well?
