unselectable/uneditable text box

New Here ,
Jul 18, 2018 Jul 18, 2018

Suddenly, I cannot select or edit a text box I was just editing.

"Select all" command does not select it either.

There is only one layer and it is not locked.

The direct select does not work.

I cannot select it with the type tool either.

Closing and reopening Illustrator does not work.

I see the text. It is just un-editable and un-selectable.

!@#$%^!!!!!!!!

Hi,

could you post a screenshot with layer and sublayers open?

I actually just found out the problem. I was typing in a product name that had a TM symbol after it. I used the short-cut Option + 2... but accidentally hit Command +2 first. Apparently, that is a short cut key for locking an item.

2 hours wasted time could easily have been avoided if they put some sort of graphical indicator on the item that is locked. Like a different colored bounding box that shows up when you either hover over it or select it or use select all.

I did not know it was locked until I saw the lock symbol when I opened up the layer drop box. Having not intentionally locked it nor anything else, I did not think that would be the issue.

Thanks anyway cinziamorotta!
