I am making posters for my school. I bought and downloaded a bunch of clipart to use and made the posters which turned out great. I saved them and closed them. Now I went back and it keeps saying it cant find the files to open the clipart. How do I fix this. I spent hours on these. They are in my computer but when I open the posters, the clipart of students are all gone.

How did you bring those images in? Are they embedded? Did you move the file when you saved it? When you opened the file did you try to re-establish the links?

If you don't embed files, there is a relationship between where the AI found those files when they were brought in. If you then change the relationship, then AI doesn't know where to look for them. For example, if you then save the AI file somewhere else on your computer, AI can't find those images. So it is a good idea to have a folder to keep external files (images) and the AI file that goes with them so that if one moves, they all move. Put all the images in a folder and then re-establish the links when AI asked if you want to find them and save the AI file in that same folder.

    Hi There,

As suggested by Michele, you need to put them in the same folder or rather package them so that all the links and links information is saved together. Please check out this small tutorial "Package files for handoff"

    Package files in Illustrator

If you have any further query please feel free to update the discussion.
