Will CS5.5 run on OSX Mavericks 10.9.2?

Will CS5.5 run on OSX Mavericks 10.9.2? ...I only use Illustrator & Photoshop. I am currently running it on OSX Mavericks 10.9.1 & it crashes every once in a while. I've heard that I am lucky that it worked at all. Would anyone have a "work around" or is it finally time for me to upgrade my Illustrator & Photoshop. Thank you for any advice!

I've been successfully running CS5 version 15.0.0 in 10.9.2 with no problems.  My fan ran fast once, and my daughter advised me to close the program when I'm not using it.

I make a living with my computer, too (having been a graphic designer since 1967) I am running CS6 and like you, I was concerned about Mavericks at first. But the dust of a new OS seems to have settled a bit. Whenever I am in doubt about apps playing nice with a new system, I always check www.roaringapps.com (Roaring Apps) They list all of the Adobe apps, and many others, in virtually every version. I just did a quick check there for CS5.5 and most of the apps get either a green check mark (good for Mavericks, or are blank (which is good because that indicates no problems have been reported to date): FYI, the site's listings run in real-time so they are usually up to date.

Hi Ovelky & thank you for the response! ...I just checked Roaring Apps, interesting site! I also realized something: the BOX to my software says CS5.5 Design Premium, but it is listed as CS 5.1 in my FINDER & is CS 15.1.0 in "About Illustrator" when open! ...so I am CONFUSED as to which version it really is.

Here's what I found on Roaring Apps, in case anyone else is as confused as I am!

CS 5.1 has a green check mark (says it works fine)

CS 15.1.0 has a blue question mark (which they say is "no data")

I'm more confused than ever

For CS5.5 neither AI or Photoshop were updated. They just got a new number (5.1) but are the same app as CS5.

...hmm... then I'm thinking it should work, since 5.1 got a green check mark on the Roaring Apps site recommended by another poster. I'm an artist, NOT a technical person (obviously!!!) ...thank you for all the help!

If you have a Time Machine or other external drive backup then you should be able to upgrade to Mavericks safely and try it out. If it doesn’t work then you could always revert to a previously saved state.
