Is it possible to add the InDesign file in book which is showing "Missing Plug-in" message. If i try to add manually also, it shows the below error message:
"File uses one or more plug-ins that are not currently available on your system. Cannot add this document to book."
Anyone give me suggestion how to handle this.

The only way to clear that error, is to install the plugins, or export
the document to inx/idml.

Unfortunately this is not flawless. Exported documents, when reopened, can have elements out of place or hidden -- I'm not sure if this is due to a styles synchronization issue or what, but it's unfortunate that the IDML process can't be fully trusted.

I think this is version problem.
Are you adding a higher version InDesign to lower version. [Eg. Adding a CS3 document to CS2 book].
If its true then, Open the document in oringal version[CS3] and export as INX and open the exported INX in lower version [CS2]. Then save as new indd and add it to the Book.

Hello, is Harbs's answer still valid today? Or is there another solution to this? I have documents that give me the missing plugin error and because of this, the documents can't be packaged.

You might check and make sure that the documents are in the same version that you are trying to package them from (or an earlier version).

You can try Exporting the opened file from CS6 as an IDML file, reopen the IDML in CS6 and save as a new file name. When you open it should have stripped out any unused plugin references.

Hi,
I have to alert the user when the document throws the missing plug-in alert, using script (Javascript (or) Applescript).
