InDesign

My documents suddenly won't show the Bleed guide lines, Margin guide lines, or text frame guides when I toggle between Preview and Normal view.  Instead, it's showing an extended white artboard, which looks like Bleed view.  I have the document settings set up with a .125 bleed and they should be showing up as red guide lines.  Deleting Indesign Preferences did not work.  Anyone know how I can get these guides back and how to make Preview view cut that white border out?Thanks

Mac, OS Tahoe 26.3.1 (a)In the past I have had this problem with Illustrator and Photoshop. Now it sometimes appears with InDesign as well. If I try to drag the active window to another place on my screen, by dragging from the top of the window, it disappears behind all other apps currently open. Oddly, any free floating palettes stay on top. If I can still see a part of the window, I can click on it to bring it back to the front. If not, I have to go to the dock to bring it forward. Nothing is lost so this is an annoyance rather than a real problem, but why does it happen and why is it now happening with ID as well as the others? 

Hi there,  I have a newsletter where most pages have full page images, but they are semi-transparent images layered on top of each other. See screenshot for example. I’m trying to create a lower-res version suitable for posting online so I would love a file size under 10 mb. So far the only way I can get close to achieving this is by taking my layers of semi-transparent images, exporting each page as a png (no transparency), reinserting this flat png, to replace the live images, and then exporting the pdf. But then it sucks because I have to have two versions of the document. I would love to get a smaller pdf using my live document. My standard settings for web docs are compress the images to 150ppi. If I export with my regular settings with the live images, it's 66 MBs, but if I replace the live layers of images with flat pngs, it's 11mbs.  

I’ve seen this problem mentioned in the InDesign Community a few times in the past, but has anyone recently had problems with Share for Review comments unmapping from their pins? 

I consistently get Share for Review errors when trying to update the share links.Restarting, clearing preferences don’t have any effect. 

Last month, I finalized an InDesign file that features a lot of precisely-sized text fields and tables. It was all perfect, good-to-go for this month’s deadline. I went into the file a few days ago to make a minor edit, and suddenly the Open Sans font was behaving very strangely - InDesign made it look like the Bold instance was missing altogether, and any time I added or deleted text anywhere in a field or table that used Open Sans, the field or table reacted as if I were inserting a font of a larger size, and the carefully designed field and table bounds were exceeded, creating hundreds of overflow errors across the document.I have tried: Re-installing Open Sans on my computer (and restarting), both trying the variable variety and the static variety of the four instances (regular, bold, italic, bold italic) the document uses. I installed Adobe 2026 on my imac. Now undo doesn’t work. It’s permanently grayed out. ID 21.2 on a Retina 5K running Ventura 13.7.8. If you look at screen shot, I can’t undo the neon effect I made or undo the letter ‘M’ I deleted. I’m opening 2025 ID to see if that helps. 

Hi guys, I work for a printing company, primarily focused on label production, and also general flat paper based commercial printing. We use Adobe CC applications for our pre-press production software, and are looking at assessing the best imposition solutions for going from artwork to plates for process jobs or pdfs for digital jobs.The main purpose for this would be to streamline operator task efficiency, ease-of-use, limitation reduction, etc. to get the most out of our time on the job.What imposition solutions have you guys had good experience with in a print production context?

Hi,Getting an issue with indesign and not recognising the calibri system font installed. From what I can see, there’s a new version of calibri with a latest windows update. V6.26 > V6.27.   Myself and colleagues are effected, and this is spanning across a lot of our documents. Replacing the font does not fully solve the issue as any forms text fields will not update to the font box.  I’ve seen a similar post regarding this with the same issue on times new roman which is marked as resolved but it most certainly not.  FYI, installing calibri via adobe fonts does not work, we are getting a conflict likely due to it already being a system font. We also running the latest version of indesign. Any help on this?

Since this post seems to be marked as resolved after the Adobe Community update and it isn’t resolved, I’m creating a new post and linking to the old one. All the relevant information can be found here (at least all of the information that survived the Adobe Community update -- there are several missing posts). Long story short -- when you install Windows Security updates, some system fonts -- Times New Roman for me -- throw a missing font error in InDesign. This error only goes away if you uninstall the Windows Security update. More detailed info can be found in the linked post.This issue has been going on for literally months, since last November, and we’ve got bupkis to show for it -- less than bupkis now that some of the original posts have been nerfed with the Adobe Community update and the original thread appears dead. Adobe. Please. Help. This is beyond frustrating now...

We are developing a UXP plug-in for Adobe InDesign 2026  that will be FREE to automate the generation of accessible PDFs (for people with low vision) directly from InDesign. We have conducted a series of tests, and some concepts do not work as indicated in the Adobe documentation. 1) According to Adobe’s official documentation (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/creating-accessible-pdfs.html) and various YouTube tutorials, reading order is achieved by placing elements into Articles, and the order of these elements defines the first level. All my books (several hundred) are formatted using the Times New Roman TTF font. The new version of InDesign 21.0 changes that to Times New Roman OTF.Fortunately, version 20.0 is still installed. I know from experience that strange things can happen in updates.. Please someone help me. This is literally killing me, especially as I went to edit the name of this question, and it deleted all of the text I’d already written :(So, I want to change the colour of some text. I select the text frame, goto colour and adjust the sliders. Thing is that there’s a lurid green box with lots of little white boxes attached, showing that the text frame is selected, that puts me off choosing the colour I want.All I want to do is turn off this selection highlight, so I can choose my colours in peace.ID is all about layout and colour choice is going to play a large part in this, so it must be possible, but for the life of me (which ID is slowly bleeding out of me) I can’t figure out how to do this.Please, before it’s too late, someone help me … I’m begging. Hi, I have a 200 page 6x9 doc which I want to print as a test on our own office A4 printer. I can print it okay but the over sideof the page is out of sync with the primary side. I habe tried double side flip as well as regular but can't get it to place itself in the right place on the page. Any suggestions please? Thanks

I need to add a very long text document to the middle of a book. Think of it like adding a huge chapter in between chapters 5 and 6. I want to auto-flow the text, so I don’t have to just manually add the additional pages, because it will be annoying as heck to have to manually add like 200 pages. Is this possible?

I realize this is a common issue for users but I cannot publish online, get an error 18 message every time. I am absolutely connected online, i have done everything i can to address the issue based on what I’ve read in the forum, and nothing is working. Why is it that there are no human beings to talk to about this with? Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

When I use the Tags panel in InDesign file to map Styles to Tags, all cross-references turn red with a dropdown error message: “Referenced paragraph or text anchor is missing.”I have tried to save the InDesign file as IDML and reopen - with similar result as above.The InDesign file needs to be exported as XML with error-free cross-references for translation.Please see the attached InDesign file with the cross-reference issue.Thank you in advance for your help. InDesign file with cross-references that are broken after tagging styles to tags 

We are experiencing an issue with Adobe InDesign in which it opens files with only read permissions, so when the user tries to save the file it errors and the user is forced to use Save As and use a new file name. Details:Software: Adobe InDesign 2024 (19.4.0.63)Device: macOS 13.5.2 (22G91) (Build 22G91)Storage: Files stored on Shared Drive (SMB) We have checked on the server where the files are stored, and Computer Manager confirms that the user has the file open in "Read" mode instead of "Write+Read". We have verified that the user has Full Control permissions to the file and that no other user is trying to access the same file at the same time. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
