Hello everyone.I need to distinguish whether I am currently using the 'selection tool' or the 'direct selection tool'.Is there any way to implement it using scripts?Or, how to distinguish which tool I am currently using to select "object", "path", or content.Both of the following are true.alert(item.constructor.name == 'Rectangle');alert(item.parent.constructor.name == 'Spread');It seems like there's nothing I can do.Thank you very much.

Since yesterday I am no longer able to update CC.I get "Encountered Issues in updating Creative Cloud. Error Code 190”.Same Windows PC that I have used with CC since 2020.I am able to update InDesign, though.Does anyone else have that problem ?

Just a bout forever I have been have to use the option  (or shift and option if I want to duplicate horizontally or vertically)  to duplicate an element and drag it to where I want it to be. It is not working anymore. When I click on an object the double arrow does appear, but as soon as I drag, it disappears...I use this all the time, what is the fix?

Hello, I need help in removing border that appears around my text frame. I've looked at all the Text Frame Options and have changed all the setting and nothing is working to remove the .25in border that appears all around the text frame. I have a suggestion regarding InDesign (version 20.5.3.x64).Currently, the feature for overset text displays the character count and percentage. However, it would be much more helpful to also have a word count option. Many vernacular languages, including Kannada (which I use for a newspaper publication), rely primarily on word count rather than character count.Would it be possible to add a word count indicator for overset text in a future update?Thank you for your time and consideration.Best regards,SIDDALINGAYYA B. My team has reviewed the document and the comments are showing in review but none of their highlights or pins are showing. I've signed in and out, restarted my computer, etc and it has made no difference. It isn't showing on their end either when they open the review link. It's like they disappeared. Below is a screenshot.  

I’m running the latest version on a MacBook Pro with Tahoe 26.2.So far I've noticed:Undo is unavailable (grayed out in the menu) Extreme lag time when importing large images Cursor gets stuck in the previous mode. (For example, if I switch to the magnifying glass to  enlarge the view then go back to the regular arrow, it stays in the magnifying glass. 

Our team recently upgraded to macOS Tahoe and Adobe CC 2026. Everyone was working fine until the OS updated on a couple computers. Users running Tahoe 26.1 thru 26.5.2 can save to the server fine. Users on Tahoe 26.6 and higher cannot. They receive this error when saving: “InDesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but it appears to be damaged.” This requires them to save the files to their desktops first and then pull them to the server which is really not efficient for our workflow.Doesn’t matter if they are resaving an existing file or creating a new file to save to the server. All users are connecting to the same server and same location on the server for testing purposes. All computers have Full Disk access set for InDesign and we’ve tried resetting preferences, setting up new user accounts, and clearing InDesign cache files. We updated to InDesign 21.5.1 and that didn’t help.  We tested and we could break working computers by installing the updated OS. We are connecting to o

Recently I have had issues with Adobe programs missing links (specifically Illustrator and InDesign).For reference, all my files are on dropbox and I work directly from there. I will work on a file, save, and then the next day when I open it again it tells me all my links are missing and I need to relink them. It NEVER used to do this and it is getting very frustrating.Is this the result of an update? Is there some secret setting I can turn off?

I have several ongoing projects that were created using InDesign 2024 (version 19.x).To ensure the layout and formatting of these existing files remain perfectly intact, I do not want to convert them to the latest version of InDesign at this stage. I specifically need to install the 2024 version on my new machine to continue working on these files.However, when I check the 'Other Versions' section in the Creative Cloud Desktop app, the 2024 version is not listed or available for download. I have searched through various Adobe help pages but haven't found a direct download link or a way to make it appear in the app.Could someone please guide me on how to access and install InDesign 2024 on a new macOS system?Thank you in advance for your help!"

I’ve noticed lately that InDesign no longer gives a warning about out-of-date cross references when I export to PDF. I’m using version 25.5.1. I really rely on that safeguard as I use cross references in most of my documents! Is there a fix?

Constantly at the bottom of the page, ‘did you know AI can do this and that’. How do I stop that, it totally grinds my gears? How about instead of that, you fix when I click to relink from CC libraries the panel removes all folders and slaps everything into one view. How about fixing that Adobe instead of AI?How about substantially improving the contents page dialogue with its tiny text, and congested space to work in?How about when I drag things from CC libraries it doesn't cause the page I am working in to nudge over?

HelloIn InDesign I am having issues with the cursor and tools menu not working.  I have updated to the latest version, I have tried restarting and clearing preferences and turned of ai generative options.With the cursor, it gets stuck on one thing.  ie if I was using the Direct Selection arrow, no matter what I select (ie if I changed to eyedropper tool) it remains as Direct Selection.  With the tool menu, where you have ones with more options such as the T for Type icon - usually I click and hold and the addition options appear.  Now clicking and holding and nothing happens.Are these known issues?!Thanks!

HiEach time I import an image into Indesign, the image loads okay, but I get the blue swirling ‘loading’ icon that never stops. I can save my document, and the menus still work but I can’t work on the actual page, and the only way I can clear it it to Force quit Indesign using Task Manager. This started about 2 weeks ago, and was fine before and I haven’t made any changes to my PC. I thought maybe it started after an update of Indesign, so I tried reverting to an older version, but still had the same problem.I have tried re-installing Indesign. (version21.3)  I use Windows 11.I really hope you can help please?Thanks Chris

InDesign 21.6 - Windows 11 - Local.When images are imported in Ai or PDF formats, the Alt Text does not appear as a tooltip on the accessible PDF while it is present for JPG imports.The control on Acrobat mentions the presence of the Alt Text for Ai or PDF imports but does not display the tooltip.Is it a technical constraint, a forgotten step or a lack to be corrected on the app? In the case of constraints, it seems tedious to me to have to transpose all the Ai or PDF imports into JPG.Thank you for your feedback.

Constrain proportions for width and height in InDesign 2025 (20.0) is broken. In previous versions of InDesign the constrain-status would stay the way you selected always, now you have to link it every time you scale something, it's quite annoying and adds an extra step to workflow.   <Title renamed by MOD>  

Modifier keys suddenly stop working in InDesign. Shift, space, control, option, command lose their functionality. For example, option-dragging an element moves it instead of copying it, despite the double arrow cursor being displayed.This issue appears exclusively in InDesign. All other programs (including Adope apps) are unaffected. Only a reboot temporarily fixes it. After a while, the issue reappears. I have no software that changes keyboard behaviour. No Webroot installed either. Downgrading to an older InDesign version does not solve it. The issue appears irrespective of what files are open.MacOS 26.7 InDesign 21.5.1Having to reboot multiple times a day just to keep InDesign working is incredibly frustrating. Is there a fix to this issue?
