Adding pages to large document glitch?

I am making a template for books in Indesign and I want to make it 600 pages,...when I try in either layout or pages it goes about adding all my pages only to have them instantly disappear and only 1 page extra added each time. Any ideas?

Under the Type tab in InDesign Preferences, tick Smart Text Refow.

Thanks Derek,

The Smart Text Refow was ticked, but so was the "Remove Empty Pages." So I unticked that and solved the problem.
