Adobe InDesign 2024 scalling issue

Community Beginner ,

Hi,

With the new 2024 update i'm having some issues. On MAC shift or shft + command is not working to scale and keep in proportions. Is this a bug with the new update?

And also selecting multiple anchor points while holding shift is not working.

So it feels like there are troubles with using the shift button. I have used multiple keyboards to check if this is the problem, it's not.

Thanks,

Bas

Although - maybe the shift key is being overriden by a third party app

I have some Security app on my Mac that messes with InDesign shortcuts and I have to 'Pause Keyboard Entries' in the preferences of that App and InDesign works normally

Check if third party apps are the cause by starting in Safe Mode and see if InDesign behaves normally.

If it does - then restart your computer and open InDesign - and the close down background Apps one a time to see which one is the issue.

=====

Other options

Try resetting your preferences:

Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the

Are you runninng Webroot, @Bas23592611ab5d? That app is cited most often as the culprit, though as Eugene said, other apps can also interfer with InDesign's shortcuts. It's so commom that Webroot has the fix listed on their website:

Hi,

Thank you for replying. But i do not have Webroot installed, also this is a company Macbook so ik can't install anything myself. But with third party apps, can this mean any application? So for instanse, Outlook or Spotify etc.?

I 'm going to try the save mode to do a check or the reset of my settings.
Thanks.

Yes there's lots of apps that can cause an override.

Once there was a person who when using CMD C to copy in InDesign would cause Confetti to come down the screen. Turns out an easter egg in a 3rd Party App running in the background.

It's worth exploring if you've exhausted all other issues like resetting your preferences, reinstall from the CC Cleaning App etc.

If it's that locked down then ask the IT department to lend a hand in resolving your issue.

It's not common and should work normally.

Please do let us know if you find the answer.

Hi,

I think it worked, by closing Teamviewer application and rebooting macbook and Indesign the issues resolved.
For now i don't have to use Teamviewer, but still it is strange that we have to do something in a other application to let an Adobe app work correctly.

It feels like it should be an Adobe problem and not the problem of the user, and there for changing something in a other apps.

Thanks for all the help.

Kind regards

Honestly, I feel it's an OS thing.
I have it on the Mac regularly - but not on Windows machines.

I don't know why Mac OS allows other apps to override shortcuts in other apps.

I don't have it anywhere else.

You can always file a bug report and maybe it could be fixed - maybe not.
