Interactive PDFs downsample images - meaning they lower the resolution of your images to make the file size smaller.

Under compression in the PDF export options - you can select No Compression.

Or best setting for interactive PDF is about 150 PPI - this can be done in the PDF export options.

You could work with a larger page dimension and make sure the placed image’s Effective Resolution is equal to or higher than 300ppi. Here I have two documents, one at 5" x 5" and the other at 10" x 10". The image in both cases have an Effective res well over the 300ppi resolution I’m setting in the export.

If I check the pixel dimensions in AcrobatPro the 10x10 version is twice as large as the 5x5 version, even though both have been exported at 300ppi:

Hi Léonie,

you could export two PDFs:

[A] PDF Interactive

[B] PDF for Print

Open the PDF from [A] in Acrobat Pro DC.

Use the Organize Pages workspace and replace all pages with the pages from [B].

All your interactive features should be maintained.

Hi Derek,

I actually see the pdf straight away after exporting it and changing the
format for a PDF interactive document. I don’t change any options.
We can then notice a lost of quality for the 3 images.

With Interactive exports the exported resolution is set in the Compression>Resolution tab, and the max is 300ppi. If you use 300 the image with the effective res of 361 will get sampled down to 300ppi

Hi Rob,

Thanks a lot for the info, and it seems that I don’t have any possibility
to change that.
Do I have another format alternative ? Where I am able to keep my images
quality and be able to add some url on my indesign document.

I would appreciate your feedback one more time.
