Ugh, I hate doing this - the answer is in here or on the web somewhere already, I just can't figure out how to ask!
Imagine a catalog entry:
Line one is headline (bold)
Line two is features and benefits (medium)
Line three is ID (italic)
The existing text is all unformatted, and I want to apply all three of those attributes at once. Character style is no faster, as it's just as simple for me to toggle bold or italic line by line. Paragraph style doesn't seem to work, as the return after line one makes it apply only the bold.
Does this make sense? I'm a newbie, but it really seems like ID would do this somehow. Sorry for the trouble.
Set up three paragraph styles, each based on the previous. Set Headline with a Next Style of Line Two, Set Line Two with a Next Style of Line three.
From there, you can select all three lines at once, and from the paragraph pallet menu, chose Apply Headline, then Next Style.

Dangit SJ, I'm sorry to bother. Note, I am using CS6.
I follow these steps, and I think I have everything good; 3 styles, based on the previous.
I cannot find any reference to "Apply" in either the Paragraph fly-out or the Paragraph Styles flyout? Assuming it's the P Styles one, I see only:

You need to right-click on the first style.
You can also set up an Object Style to apply the first style and then the next styles.
Another thing you can do with Next Styles is set the third line's next style to the first style. The formatting will cycle through on lone repetitive lists.

Holy moly, I got it! WAHOO!!! I truly appreciate your help- it's not easy finding experts that will give their time to the rest of us. Merry Christmas!
I was missing the "next style" step, it just wasn't registering with me.
