I have a large number of images that are currently on a white background that need to be changed to a transparent background. Is this something that can be done via a 'rule' within one of the Adobe packages? Without some form of automation, it will take two staff over a month to complete.

How many images - how complex are they?
It can be automated to a degree - do you have examples?

Hi, it would be almost 3000 images that need a new transparent background. The images themselves are mostly or paintings, with some of them having frames around them.
Example - https://www.lucypittaway.co.uk/artwork-c1/prints-c3/lucy-pittaway-sunrise-stroll-by-the-sea-print-p4.... Our website pulls through alternative images depending on the attributes selected. Thanks.

Hi @Megan253972369a0c not sure if I understand, but do you simply need to crop to the painting edge to eliminate the drop shadow?

No we need to do more than crop. You can see in the attached image that the image actually has a white background which is why it doesn't quite fill the space. It's this white space i need to get rid of by changing it on to a transparent background (in bulk/batches), but without changing the image dimensions. Thanks.

Are you placing the art in InDesign? How would the transparent pixels be used in the layout—why can’t you do this?:

If the top, right, bottom, and left dimensions of the white border is consistent in all of the art, then it could probably be removed via scripting in either InDesign or Photoshop.
