Greetings InDesign community,

I've done some searching through the forum and haven't quite found the answer I've been looking for, yet som answers which were somewhat close.

I'm currently working on a book with a bunch of images with text.

Each of these images have a image number, "Image 1-01", "Image 1-02", etc.

Is there a way to write a script that writes an increasing number for each time the script is added?

Aswell as refering to a certain number in the text?

"As seen in Image 1-03" so that if an image is added before, it changes here aswell?

For incremental numbers you can use paragraph numbering. You may have to thread the frames that contain the figure numbers, but that's simple.

Referring to numbers: use cross-references. You can check the help files or a tutorial on how to set up cross-references.
