“In design cannot complete the auto-style workflow:- “try again later” This message is driving me up the wall and I'm sure there must be a simple solution. Any help please!

I just did a test with AutoStyle in InDesign 2024, and it worked fine.

 

While processing the text it give the message "processing in cloud". It uses a form of AI called Sensei to do the processing and it sends it to a server. The message you got ("Try again later") suggests to me there was a temporary problem in accessing the server.

 

Why don't you try it again now.

indesign 24 beta

i have tried it again, and it does the same

importing msword text 120+ pages ...tried selected frames, text, clicked in
the document but the auto-style error message says ' is not able to
complete workflow, and 'try again later' maybe I'm just missing something
simple? something with the cloud perhaps?

Try it on a smaller file and see if you get the same results.

And one more thought: Handling 120+ pages of MS Word text may be more than the service is capable of handling: Break your MS Word file into chunks and try them individually.

 

It's a relatively new feature and probably hasn't worked out all the butgs.

status.adobe.com shows no current Creative Cloud problems so it may be something about the file you're uploading. I'd try something simpler to test.

Yes updated to 14.3
Still not working.
Tried big docs little docs, and many angles and hours.

I wonder if it could have something to do with geolocation?
Anyhow thanks for offering help
Might have to consider a planB
It is a shame because all the other adobe things are working for me

At this point I would reset the prefs and delete the cache files (see Reset InDesign Preferences and Other Troubleshooting ) and if that dopesn't solve it, run the cleaner tool (Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to solve installation problems ) and reinistall, being sure NOT to import previous version prefs.
