Best way to place images near callouts and adjust the layout

Community Beginner ,

Hi all, I am new to this community and have been going through the previous posts to find the best way to automatically place all images near their callouts in the text, and reflow the text as the figures are placed one-by-one.

I have been reading through several posts and scripts. Most suggest to go with the anchored images options. However, as I explore more, I understand that it is not the best way to place images for reasons a) it has limitations such as not able to wrap text appearing before the anchor point, b) not move images to next spread if there is not sufficient space left on the spread to fit the image after the anchor point, etc.

The option that I could think of is:

1. place the first image near the callout UN-anchored to main text frame

2. reduce the main text frame size on the page to allow space for the imagebox to fit

3. keep repeating the above 2 steps for all the remaining images.

Q1: I am not sure if this is the best way to place image. Any suggestions?

Q2: Is there any script already available which does this?

Regards,

Amit

Hi Amit,

This is purely customized requirement so you can not find exactly as per your requirements script.

Best way to place images on separate frame, not inline or anchored.

Hi Sumit, sorry for taking long to respond. So, am I correct in understanding that per you the best way to place images is on separate frames but inside the main text frame with wrap? In other other words no need to shorten the main text frame to accomodate the image box frame on the page but outside the main text frame. Is that correct?

Amit

Correct. Anchored frames aren't suitable for this. Place the images as floats, but there's no need to change the frames that contain the story: apply wrap to the images and the story will flow around them.
