Hi All,

I use the same parents in a lot of my books, I have about 20 in total.

Is it possible to export those 20 parents and import them into my new document?

2 Ways:

  1. Open a document with hose parent pages, (create pages based on those parent pages,) move pages based on those parents to your document.
  2. Open Page Panel, Page Panel Menu > Parent Pages > Load Parent Pages …

Export: No. Import: Yes.

You can load the parent pages from the other document by using the Pages panel menu.

Let me know if you have trouble finding the menu and I'll post a screen capture.

Save a clean file with those parent pages etc. as a template.

Open template, place new content, away you go.

Hi @David25117528512j ,

also note that it's a All or Nothing situation.

You cannot pick a particulat parent page to load from a given InDesign document.

You also can convert a document page to a parent page.

Select the document page in the Pages panel, go to the options of the Pages panel where you find Parent Page and look up the menu command to convert or save the selected document page to a parent page.

Offtop: "import parents" looks like "I wanna buy my new parents from some other country, my old parents isn't good", export parents looks like "I wanna kill my mom and dad". Crazy time, master pages was more kindness and goodness. Don't forget to write "pages" word, "parent pages" isn't "parent" 🤪
