Hi I am trying to change document setup (disable facing pages) and it tells me object is locked. I have made sure there are no locked objects, have reset Preferences and tried exporting to IDML but none work. Help appreciated. thanks Peter

Hi Peter,
can you give some details about exact version of InDesign and OS?
Maybe also the locale language of the OS and of InDesign.
We recently seen a problem with saving a document preset to a new name.
I can't change name of Document Preset
But changing the document setup is something different.
Did not see this before. Unless the document file is locked because of not sufficient user right management of course.
Can you save the document with a new name?
You said, exporting to IDML did not work. What exactly did not work? Exporting to IDML? Opening the document from IDML?
Or just after opening the IDML file changing the document setup?
Can you test with a fresh, new and unsaved document and change the document setup with that?
Regards,
Uwe

Hi Uwe
InDesign CS45.5 on Mac OS 10.11.6
Locale language ... not sure what you mean but answer is probably English
Document is not locked
Saving with a new name does not help
I can export to IDML but it still will not allow me to change Document Setup
I have other similar InD files where I can change the Document setup. I have also created a new empty file and can change the setup.
Thanks for your engagement
P

Hm. Sorry, I have no idea what happend to your document.
Could you try to move the pages to a new facing-pages document?
Layout > Pages > Move Pages…
Maybe something's damaged in your document?

If you mean CS5.5, it is not supported under 10.11 so you need to be aware of that.
If you want to post the file somewhere perhaps somebody can take a look at it.

Good idea, Bob.
Since Peter is able to set up and change new documents to facing pages it hopefully may not be an issue with OSX 10.11.6 interacting with InDesign CS 5.5… But one never knows.

Thanks Uwe, thanks Bob. I've downloaded free trial of InD CC and the problem is solved. Obviously it was an incompatibility issue. Grateful.

Hi Adobe community,
The same issue had occured on my InDesign, the search for a solution of which had led me here.
I didn't look for update to fix it however the document setup I was changing to was on an old document. So, I deleted all the additional Master pages (Window -> Pages) that it had and applied [None] to all the pages. It was a new doc so I wasn't worried about missing out on any formatting, but this fixed the issue for me.
Hope this helps.
