InDesign can’t package my document because it says it cannot copy the linked files from my Synology NAS. All permissions appear correct, but InDesign keeps refusing to package. Saving the INDD locally, choosing a different destination, reinstalling, and reconnecting to the NAS as a registered user didn’t help. Has anyone experienced this issue or found a way to make InDesign successfully package from an SMB share?

You can usually blame the NAS rather than InDesign here. Packaging needs full local style read and write access and many SMB shares don’t let InDesign do the temporary copies it needs even when permissions look fine. The most reliable fix is to copy the INDD and its links to a local drive, package from there, then move the package back to the NAS. Mapping the share as a proper drive or remounting it with full credentials can help but working locally avoids the problem entirely.

Hello @Oguz5E8C,
I appreciate your detailed explanation of the situation. In addition to what the expert mentioned, could you please verify your operating system and the specific version of InDesign you are currently using?
Furthermore, could you check if the issue you're experiencing aligns with what is outlined in this community thread:

If it does, you may want to try the suggestions provided there and inform me whether it makes any difference on your side.
I look forward to your response, so we can assist you in resolving this issue.

As mentioned in the thread referenced by @Abhishek Rao, it's a known issue on macOS Tahoe (which I assume you're running.)
