Change in Zoom Shortcut Behavior in InDesign 2024

Hello everyone,
I have a stupid question: until some time ago we were still working with Indesign 2023 on several computers because it went well.
A few weeks ago, we loaded the update to ID 2024.
This is also going so far, only one thing is annoying: with ID 2023 and also with all versions before, you could scale the screen view with "Command-Spacebar" and then a rubber band appeared, which covered the scaling range. With ID 2024, the rubber band is no longer present at "Command-Spacebar", but the screen scales immediately. For the rubber band, you now have to add the shift key to get this function. That's annoying!
Is it possible to change this somewhere?

Thank you, mac.friend

Hi @Mac347885949ewk,

Thank you for reaching out, and there's no such thing as a stupid question—your feedback is valuable to us!

I understand how frustrating it can be when a familiar workflow changes unexpectedly. In InDesign 2024, the change you mentioned is indeed a shift in the shortcut behavior. The "Command-Spacebar" now immediately triggers the zoom without the rubber band effect, and adding the "Shift" key reintroduces it.

Unfortunately, there isn't a setting to revert this behavior to the previous version's functionality. However, I suggest customizing your keyboard shortcuts to better suit your workflow. You can do this by going to "Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts" and creating a new set that aligns with your preferred commands.

I hope this helps, and please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or need further assistance!

Best,
Abhishek Rao

I think that's what you're looking for: disable Animated Zoom in preferences:

Hallo,

vielen Dank für den Hinweis. Ich hatte diese Einstellung inzwischen auch schon gefunden.

Ich frage mich, warum das derart versteckt sein muss ...

@Abhishek Rao   No idea who you are or what your knowledge is, besides calling yourself Adobe employee, but there is: it is called 'Animated Zoom' and you can uncheck that option in Preferences. So...?? Know your own product!

Hi @Frans v.d. Geest,

Thank you so much for pointing that out and for the correction! I truly appreciate your input, and I’m sorry for any confusion caused by my previous response. You’re absolutely right-the 'Animated Zoom' option can be unchecked in Preferences to restore the previous zoom behavior.

I’m always here to help, and I value the expertise of our community members like yourself. Thanks again for contributing and ensuring we all stay informed!

Best regards,
Abhishek Rao
