Collate not happening when printing

New Here ,
Nov 29, 2018 Nov 29, 2018

OS: MAC OS Sierra

App: Creative Cloud 2019 / InDesign

Print Driver: UFR II V30.00

Steps taken to resolve the issue:

Updated MAC OS Sierra

Removed and reinstalled print drivers

Other troubleshooting done:

Re-start the MAC computer and also the printing device (Canon iR Advanced C5540)

Make sure the printer interface shows the "collate" option checked.

Creating a new inDesing file and testing to make sure original file is not corrupt (NOK, issue still happens)
Testing multiple inDesing documents that used to print fine when using the same printing options (NOK, now they won't collate)Printing from other application from the same computer to the same device with Collate checked (OK,  takes care of the machine being problem)

Exporting the inDesign file into PDF and printing from a Windows machine (OK, confirms the machine is not the problem)

What happens?

Say you have a 3 page document and want X number of copies, print on both sides of the page and collated. Normally, you would see P1, then P2 on the back of P1, then P3 with a blank back (because it is a 3 page document), then you see P1 of the next copy on the 3rd sheet of paper, with P2 on the back of it, etc., but instead P1 of the second copy prints on the back of P3 from the first document, as if printing a single document.

Thanks.

Have you tried creating a PDF and printing that? That way you eliminate the OS & printer as a part of the problem.

Hi Dave;

Thanks for your reply. If we export the file(s) to PDF, they print fine from a Windows machine, not from the Mac. Other apps like Word also do it right from the Mac computer, that is why I kind of blaming CC suite.

I don't see that copier listed on Canon's site. I see the C5540i, which lists a different driver than you've listed here. That could be the issue. Usually, Acrobat is the workhorse (similar to Word) and seems to work when other CC apps are not. Strange that you're getting this issue with Acrobat too. Are you printing directly to the copier, or is there a front end RIP (Fiery, etc.) on it?

Hi Dave;

You are right, that is the right machine model (Canon iRunner Advanced C5540i), the machine was working fine until a few days ago, so something changed by updates or maybe clicked on some setting by mistake.

I removed the printer from the the computer, made sure the drivers were removed, and re-installed new drivers (UFR II 10.16.0) (you are right about the drivers version, I have provided the a number that shows on the file download, before I had UFR II 10.14.0).

Unfortunately this did not resolve the issue. Thanks for following up, and please, if you can think of something else, please let me know.
