Hi.

Here comes a short question:

Is it possible to color the style-groups (paragraph-style, character-style, object-style), like the layer-labels in photoshop?

Hi,

No. You can color code pages though.

You can also group styles based on the color which you intend to give them

Hi Aman.

1.) What do you mean with "code pages"?

2.) Unfortunately I do not understand (technical) your second sentence neither...

Hi,

1. I meant you can assign color codes to pages in indesign based on the master page that is applied to them.

2. I meant you can group styles into groups. For example: all styles with blue color code can fall into a paragraph style group named blue. Groups are like folders that can contain styles. Similarly, group character styles into groups

Okay. I get it what you mean. Thanks!

But I've knew that already.

This below  ist (as Derek said too) what I wish to have in ID. (Of course, only the style-colors are faked.)

Exactly. Only the styles should be grouped together and the group itself should have also the color.

Submit it as a feature request (grab the mockup as well) and send it to: Adobe InDesign Feedback

I've already sent it, and anyone who's also following this and agrees send it as well.

Great idea, cmoke73!

Would you want it to be:

  1. styles in the same group
  2. styles based with a parent / child relationship
  3. user-defined

Thanks!

My wish would be pretty easy to fulfill, I think and not so complex

I work with books that contain many documents. Inside, the style groups and their (many) styles are neatly listed. But sometimes I must import objects with other styles. Then it is useful to have that colour-code to recognize the imported styles and delete them easily. And above that, I like to have a proper and clean structure in my documents.

Yes I agree, it would be especially useful for Reflowable Text ePubs where you can sometimes have a lot of Paragraph Styles.
