Color working space

New Here ,

In InDesign Color Settings, can I set cmyk working space to GRACoL2013_CRPC6.icc? It's not an option and "Other" is grayed out. I'm trying to match settings I was supplied. Does the choice of Indesign color working space affect the color of exported pdfs, or is color determined by the Photoshop color settings of the placed art? When is GRACoL2013_CRPC6.icc used, as opposed to swop 2?

It’s the startup drive’s Library not the User Library. I’m on Mojave, but I don‘t think this has changed with Ventura:

I probably used “Load CMYK” from the drop-down menu if it wasn’t a preset option

Right, that would load the profile into Photoshop’s Color Settings but not the other Adobe Print Apps

Hi @21cents , Is Coated GRACoL 2013 listed? A profile’s display name is not always the same as its file name:

Does the choice of Indesign color working space affect the color of exported pdfs, or is color determined by the Photoshop color settings of the placed art?

If an image has an embedded profile and your InDesign CMYK CM Policy allows embedded profiles when the document is created, then the embedded profile would be used on Export. Just keep in mind the policy is saved with the ID document, so the current Color Settings policies would not affect an existing document.

The Preserve Numbers (Ignore Linked Profiles) and Off policies ignore embedded profiles and use the document’s assigned CMYK profile instead—see Edit>Assign Profiles.

I don't know. I can't find the Profiles window you showed. Is it within ID?

I was given the attached pngs (dark screens) with settings for PS and ID to match, plus a file called GRACoL2013_CRPC6.icc. I was able to match the PS settings. Since I am ignoring linked profiles in ID, I guess the GRACoL2013 setting in PS is for the purpose of RGB conversion to CMYK and I don't need to save a profile in PS, which really helps keep down the file size. The light screen shows my current ID settings.

What OS are you on and where did you install the provided profile? On OSX you can install in this folder...

Library⁩ ▸ ⁨Application Support⁩ ▸ ⁨Adobe⁩ ▸ ⁨Color⁩ ▸ ⁨Profiles⁩ ▸ ⁨Recommended⁩

...and it will show at the top of the Adobe app profile lists—everything above the gray line above Euroscale Coated in your capture

macOS Ventura 13.5.1
ID 18.2.1 (2023, but not the newest)
PS 24.5.0 (2023, but not the newest)
I’m matching the company version #s to avoid potential problems.

To get PS CMYK color setting GRACoL2013_CRPC6, I probably used “Load CMYK” from the drop-down menu if it wasn’t a preset option. I would have done the same in ID if “Other” had been available. If not possible, I will leave settings as swop 2, the default.

Library⁩ ▸ ⁨Application Support⁩ ▸ ⁨Adobe⁩ ▸ ⁨Color⁩ ▸ ⁨Profiles⁩ ▸ ⁨Recommended⁩

I couldn’t follow your entire path to reach the Recommended folder. I got as far as the Color folder containing Proofing and Settings, both empty.

Not:

Rob, thanks for the detailed and helpful response! I successfully loaded the ID profile. Not as simple as PS though...

You want to use one of the system profile folders so the profile is available in different applications—it’s similar to fonts.
