converting version

Got a problem regarding in Indesign conversion. I got new version file of INDD and I want it to convert in older version but when the process start it does nothing.

Save the newer version as an IDML document, you should then be able to open it as an earlier version of InDesign.

Ask for an IDML file and put it on the same place as the INDD file to retain external links functioning correctly.
