Crossed out image - Error when exporting page with a PNG image as a PNG file - MacOS

I'm using Indesign on MacOS. When I have a PNG image in my Indesign page and I try to export that page as a PNG image, I get a cross like in the image below instead of the image. It works perfectly fine on a Windows PC.

Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround?

I would never import a PNG image. I avoid them. Use psd, pdf or tiff instead.

What source is the PNG's image source?

The InDesign file I've been given uses lots of PNGs thoughout and I haven't been given other formats. I could go through converting PNG to TIFF images to see if that helps but it would take a lot of time to go through them.

It currently exports correctly when exporting as PDF and also exports correctly when exporting as PNG on a Windows computer so it seems like a Indesign Mac version bug. I'm just having to use a Windows computer as a workaround but it's a very inefficient so I was hoping someone may have a solution If not, is there a way to raise this bug with Adobe?

I'm not seeing anything in your screen capture--just a big gray box. However, there shouldn't be anything wrong with using a well-formed PNG. What happens if you export to a PDF?

Hi! The light grey box is where the image should be showing. The dark grey is part of the indesign file which isn't a PNG.

When I export to a PDF, it exports correctly showing an image where the light grey box is. When I export a PNG on a Windows PDF, it also exports correctly.

With a simple test, it worked on my Mac and Windows systems.

Try opening the file in Photoshop and save as back to a PNG. Maybe it will "clean up" the file format.
