Deleted Type 1 font keeps appearing in Indesign (conflicting its Open Type replacement)

Hi There,

I hope someone can help me with the following:

I’m facing an issue with an older Type 1 font — Trump Mediaeval — that remains active/present in Indesign after deleting it from my computer.

I deleted the Type 1 font in an attempt to solve the initial issue I’m having: after installing the Open Type font ‘Trump Mediaeval LT’ to replace the Type 1 the Open Type properties aren’t working properly (‘Open Type properties are not applicable’).

It means I cannot select text and make them it into small caps or old style numerals, by ANY of the ways to do this in Indesign.

To be clear: the font has those properties as I can see them and pick them individually from the glyph panel. Clearly this isn’t the way to work around the issue (manually setting character after character would take me back to Gutherbergs age).

Assuming it might be a conflict with the older Trump Mediaeval font, I trashed every file of it. But the font keeps appearing in the Indesign font library. Even after clearing Indesign preferences; uninstalling and installing Indesign and trying to clear font caches: it keeps returning.

Anyone who has had the same problems or know how I can clear Indesign from this ghost?

Thanks,

Connie

"shows up in this typeface selecting list in Illustrator, but not in Photoshop"

This is expected as Photoshop had already removed support for Type 1 fonts, so even if they are installed, they won't show in PS.

Despite your efforts to search your computer for the old Type 1 fonts, it may be hiding somehwre that you cannot search.

Try this: Apply the Type 1 version to any text, then go to the Find/Change Font dialog and you should see the path to the font's location in the More Info section.

Hello,

My client with many users is experiencing this new issue with the recent Adobe CC update for related apps. They receive this error when trying to print something from InDesign, photoshop, illustrator, etc "error in the screenshot below". May I know how can we fix this error since the type 1 font is not supported anymore?

@graphited67884243 please create a new post going forward as this is a separate issue from the OP.

Here is the information on Type 1 end of support. The error will continue to pop up as long as your documents have Type 1 fonts.
