Hi All, still very new to InDesign and teaching myself the in's and out's so please bear with me.
Setting up a folded brochure that has front cover, back cover and inside, so a folded brochure, that will end up been an A4 brochure, my query is the following should this be set up as:
(1) - A4 facing pages or
(2) A3 facing pages then it can be trimmed down to A4 once printed.
Guidance would be helpful. Thank you.

Hi Caroline:
Since you want an A4 brochure, I would design it as an A4. There are some free templates to get you started when you choose File > New > Print and a lot more on stock.adobe.com. If you are using bleeds, then your printer will print to a larger page size and trim to A4.

Thanks Barb, I have just gone in to review the templates and review their document setup page sizing, it can be confusing to new InDesign users, when setting up, so thank you for your time in replying.

In addition to BB’s excellent reply, note there are two ways of folding (on the long edge) an A4 leaflet — a roll fold and a zigzag fold. With the former the third page is narrower so it can tuck in inside the other pages and with the latter, each page has the same width.
One way to set up the leaflet is as two A4 landscape pages with bleed added to each edge and fold marks added manually. There are other ways!
Keep your images in RGB and ask your printer what kind of PDF s/he wants; usually PDF/X-4 is recommended.
