What's the difference? It's just a file - bunch of bits.

I think it's different because of Acrobat security.
But it seems like downloading PDF files is not easy.

Have you seen last reply - solution - from the 2nd link? 

 

If you can download something as "binary" - it really shouldn't matter what you are downloading. 

 

On the other hand - I'm not JS guy so only citing what works / worked for others.
