Dynamic Verse number at the header

Participant ,

Hey there everyone!

I'm working on a book with many verses, with translation and purport, and at the header, on the second side, I need to add the last verse number that is in the page.

the problem is that sometimes there are changes and verses move to a different page and so on.

Is there a way to make it Dynamic?

the verses are in a separate style than the text and are numbered in the style.

Is Running header does not help you? Learn how to number pages, chapters, and sections in InDesign

Hey George_Salnik

Thank you for your advice!

But the problem is that the verses are numbered in the style, that means that I only need the last numbering of that style...

I tried to follow the solution in the link you added but instead of having the last number of that style, I got the whole verse in the header...

If you use nested styles to apply a Character Style to just the verse number within the Paragraph Style, you can then set your Running Header to pick up the Character Style. (I do this for numerical indexes, and it works great)

Hey SJRiegel!

I see you in almost all my inquiries here in the forum! Thank you for your good advice. I did it, in the numbering and bullets section in the verse style I set the page number a character style and at the variables, I chose Running Header (character style) and set the style,

I don't know why it's not working.... nothing appears in the page, I placed it in the master...

What do you think is the problem?

The numbers in my example were a part of the regular text, with a nested style applied.

I did a little experimenting with this and found that method will not work with numbers applied with the Bullets and Numbering function.
I had to use Convert Bullets and Numbering to Text in order to get it to work. (This could create its own set of issues, so you would have to wait until the very end to do it.)
