Excel doc import

Contributor ,

I have a new MBP (13", 2016, 2,9 Ghz Intel Core i5) and InDesign V2017.1.0.56 (Dutch).

I can't place an Excel document into InDesign.

I get an error.

Is this a known error for this MBP?

My Excel doesn't work either...

What's the error? Did you migrate these applications or properly install them?

What do you mean when you say that your Excel doesn't work either? Can you create an Excel file, save it, close it, open it?

First troubleshooting tip is that if you are in Windows, close Excel before going into InDesign and choosing File > Place.

And as Bob said, what is the error message? A screen shot is useful.

It's worth trying to save the Excel as the old file type .xls (as opposed to .xslx) and placing that into InDesign. I seem to remember that that has sometimes solved a problem or two for me in the past.

Problem is fixed by an Excel update.
