Existing Topic List

I generated a new book from an older one, deleted the older page content, etc., add new content, well and good. Now, lo and behold, when I went to generate the index, I found a topic list containing entries from the previous book!

So now I'm faced with the laborious process of deleting each topic, answering "Yes" to a dialog ("Are you sure"?), etc. Wondering if there may be a quicker way to purge the topic list.
