Exporting a book from InDesign 2019 to PDF slows down the computer (Windows 10)

Hi,

we are working with InDesign since the version CS2. Now CC 2019.

Every day we are using the book funktion. Inside the book are up to 150 files. The size of one file is abot 4 MB.

When we make an export to a PDF file it takes a lot of time because InDesign opens every file in the background. And when InDesign closes all the files it takes also a lot of time and it slows down the computer.

This is very ... and not up to date.

(PC: Windows 10 64 Bit, Intel Xeon 3.6 GHz, 8 GB RAM)

Is there a solution.

InDesign has relatively zero improvements to the Book feature in a long long time.

There's a script called Batch Convert here http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/batch_convert.html

You can use this to batch convert a folder of InDesign files - you could then stitch it together again in Acrobat.

We use it to convert many files from indd to idml and idml to indd.
